Depression is more than just “feeling blue” or having a bad day. Depression and Bipolar Disorder are serious health problems that effect feelings, thoughts and actions. They are not personal weakness or character flaws. Individuals cannot simply “snap out of it.” It is estimated that in the U.S. as many as 1 in 33 children, 1 in 8 teens and 16 million adults will battle clinical depression one or more times within their life. Bipolar disorder will affect 5.7 million adults and 2.6% of teens between the ages of 13 – 18 years. Fortunately, treatment is available and highly effective. Our specialized team of Board Certified Psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers and Professional Counselors offer high quality treatment interventions which include Medication Management, Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal and Family Systems Therapies.

Symptoms Include:

  • Frequent sadness, tearfulness, crying
  • Decreased interest in activities, or inability to enjoy previously favored activities
  • Low energy, boredom
  • Cycles of elevated and depressed mood
  • Social isolation
  • Low self-esteem and guilt
  • Increased irritability, anger or hostility
  • Major change in eating and/or sleeping patterns
  • Difficulty with relationships
  • Frequent complaints of physical illnesses such as headaches or stomach aches
  • Thoughts or expression of suicide or self-destructive behavior
  • Frequent absences from school, poor concentration and poor performance
