Paul Douglas Trautman, MD: Medical Director of Children’s Services
Since 2004, Dr. Paul Trautman has been the Medical Director for the West Bergen Center for Children and Youth. He has held numerous hospital appointments at such academic medical centers including New York Presbyterian Hospital and New York Hospital- Cornell Medical Center. In addition, he has also held academic appointments at Columbia College of Physician and Surgeons and Cornell University Medical College.
He received his medical doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and performed his residency in general psychiatry at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the New York State Psychiatric Association.
Margaret King, APN, ANCC Certified, Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
Margaret King has been with West Bergen since November 2008. Prior to this, she was an APN at Atlantic Behavioral Health in Morristown since 2003. She also held APN positions at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville and Youth Consultation Service in Newark.
She received her Master of Science in Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nursing from Rutgers University.
Amarjot Narula, MD: Medical Director
Dr. Narula has been West Bergen’s Medical Director since January 1996. He is currently on active staff at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey, as well as a serving as a consultant for Bergen Regional Medical Center.
He received his Medical Degree from Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal, India and did a psychiatry residency in Middletown, New York.
He is well regarded in his field and has lectured on numerous topics and has served on various medical committees in the local area. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, as well as member. He is also a member of the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry and the American Medical Association.
He is a former President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association.
Mary Joan Stiuso, APN, ANCC Certified, Clinical Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing
Mary Joan Stiuso returned to West Bergen in May, 2011. Prior to her return she worked as a prescribing nurse at the Center for Children and Youth in Ramsey from 2000 – 2004. In addition to working at West Bergen, she has also worked as an Administrative Research Nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, an Advanced Practice Nurse at Bayonne Community Mental Health Center and as a consultant for Bergen County Division of Family Guidance.
Currently, she is employed as the Program Coordinator for the Venture / Venture-Out Program, through the Division of Family Guidance.
Mary Joan received her Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing and certification in Advanced Pharmacology from Columbia University.
Melinda H. Sohval RN,FNP,PMHNP MSN
Melinda egan at West Bergen in 2015. At the start of her lifelong career as a Masters prepared Advanced Practice Nurse, Melinda was Awarded ANCC Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in which she practiced in a variety of ambulatory care settings in Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey including a Nurse Leader designation at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Melinda graduated Columbia University in 2007 with a Post-Masters Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received ANCC accreditation as a PMHNP in 2014.
Melinda wrote her Master’s Thesis on the use of Therapy dogs in Mental Health care. Her Sheltie, Raffi passed his therapy dog certification on 11/4/2015. Raffi will be providing pet therapy at West Bergen’s Partial Care Program and eventually throughout WBMHC.
Melinda is a 25 year resident of Bergen County, and is involved in a variety of Community based programs including Ridgewood Cares-an organization that provide errands, meals and assistance to those in the Ridgewood Public School System experiencing a health crisis and Jamboree, since 1947, Jamboree has presented an original musical revue raising funds for need based college scholarships.
